The Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period was a dark and chaotic era in Chinese history. This story selects this period and depicts the law of the jungle where the strong prey on the weak. A powerful emperor conquers various countries and takes the most beautiful women of those countries as spoils of war, imprisoning them in his private palace for his own pleasure.
